A Sparkgeo team project for the World Bank, using satellite imagery to monitor activity at border crossings.

The problem

The World Bank wanted to monitor trade activity at border crossings from satellite imagery.

What I did

• Led Sparkgeo’s data science team on the project.
• We built object-detection models that counted vehicles at border crossings in high-resolution satellite imagery, alongside a model that estimated traffic over time from frequent, medium-resolution imagery.
